On behalf of the donors, sponsors, collaborators and myself, we welcome you to the Key Biscayne Piano Festival’s second season. We are thrilled to continue this extraordinary event with you all!
The Inaugural Season 2018/19 was a success thanks in large part to the entire Key Biscayne community’s participation and support, from the youths to adults. We’re particularly thankful for the pianists and artists presented; their musical prestige witnessed on stage, their enthusiasm in delighting and interacting with the audience, and the format and superb programming. Each concert performance has been a remarkably intimate and exclusive experience. With such eminences performing on our island paradise, it’s no surprise we’ve attracted local, national, and international attention. A recent article published in the American Airlines inflight magazine, NEXOS, referred to the Festival as a “Community Miracle.”
We’re encouraged to strive even further for the Key Biscayne Piano Festival’s second season, elevating the programing and guest experience to new heights. This new season will be comprised of eight concerts from November 2019 to May 2020, featuring a global palette of artists from Italy, Cuba, Spain, Serbia, Russia, Croatia, Venezuela & the U.S. In addition to the six concerts hosted in partnership with the Miami International Piano Festival, we also plan to co-present with the Key Biscayne Winter Music Concert Series. Traditionally, The Chopin Foundation has co-produced a piano concert as part of the Winter Music Concert Series. This season, the Key Biscayne Piano Festival and the Winter Music Concert Series have partnered with The Chopin Foundation to host a free piano concert in an effort to produce all the piano concerts on the Key under one umbrella.
Concert programming will continue to incorporate a platform that highlights different art expressions, including painting, sculpture, photography, writing, dance, and artists that are Key residents or residents of our “Sister City,” Liberty City. The Piano Festival’s goal is to immerse and stimulate the audience with the arts for a rich cultural experience.
Lastly, I would like to extend a special recognition to Giselle Brodsky, Founder and Director of the Miami International Piano Festival. Our partnership goes beyond the two piano festivals. At the root of this tree there is a strong relationship based on profound respect, friendship, and identical artistic vision.
Thank you for your continued support of the Key Biscayne Piano Festival. We look forward to your seeing you at the all of the concerts of the 2019/20 season.
